For the research and development phase of the joint project 'Urban-Rural Assembly (URA): Strategic tools for integrated territorial planning enhancing urban-rural integration and circular economies' - funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, 01LE1804A) - we are looking for a researcher who takes on the following tasks:
1) Support of the Principal Investigator in the implementation of a sub-project for the conception and design of sustainable scenarios of urban-rural development based on the context-specific testing and further development of actor-oriented and participatory planning and governance tools.
2) Conceptualisation and delivery of project related workshops and conferences in cooperation with the Sino-German research consortium.
3) Support in liaising with the project management agency (DLR) and funding agency (BMBF).
4) Participation in academic publishing activities, conference contributions and editorial of project related journal (URA Periodical).

For the research and development phase of the joint project 'Urban-Rural Assembly (URA): Strategic tools for integrated territorial planning enhancing urban-rural integration and circular economies' - funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, 01LE1804A) - we are looking for a research assistant who takes on the following tasks:
1) Support of the Principal Investigator in the implementation of a sub-project to investigate the interplay between global urbanisation processes and the formation of local and context-specific spatial production, particularly focusing on everyday processes of translocal socio-spatial practices at the urban-rural interface of the Chinese study region Taizhou-Huangyan (Zheijang Province), including conceptualisation, implementation and evaluation of field research based on urban ethnographic research methods.
2) Independent processing and completion of a doctorate within the framework of the research work over the project period of 4 years.
3) Spatial visualisation and mapping of research results in use of GIS software (QGIS).
4) Support in coordination and communication with Chinese consortium and collaboration partners.
5) Regular coordination of own research work with research and practice partners in Germany and China, as well as preparation and implementation of regular conference contributions.
The research activities at Habitat Unit are part of an interdisciplinary consortium including leading research institutions from Germany and China in close cooperation with local research and practice partners from the Chinese study region Taizhou-Huangyan as well as international partners such as UN-Habitat and ICLEI. The main goal of the joint project is the development of new interdisciplinary knowledge sets on urban-rural linkages that serve the transdisciplinary development and testing of application-oriented planning and governance tools for strategic, actor-oriented and socio-ecologically sustainable urban-rural policies, urban-rural management models and integrated planning processes. The Habitat Unit is taking a lead role in the consortium.
